New e-paper device: Xiaomi iReader T6

Xiaomi's iReader T6 is an E Ink e-reader that features a 6" 1448x1072 (300 PPI) Carta HD display, front lighting, a 1Ghz IMX6 Solo Lite chipset and 8GB of internal memory. The linux-based T6 supports several e-book formats, including MOBI, PDF, EPUB and more.

The iReader T6 is now on sale in China for ¥928 (around $135 USD).

E Ink launches new JustTint

E Ink announced a new product, E Ink JustTint which are variable transmission light control film - or films that can control whether light goes through them or not.

E Ink says that the new films are bi-stable (and so do not require any energy, only for changes) and can be used for windows, sunroofs, skylights and more.

New e-paper device: EeWrite E-pad

The EeWrite E-Pad is an Android (8.0) tablet that features a 10.3" 1872 x 1404 (227 PPI) E Ink Mobius (flexible) display with front-light and touch support, a 10-Core Helio X20 processor, support for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 4G communication and 32 GB of storage + TF card support.

The E-Pad successfully raised over $400,000 on kickstarter, and will hopefully start shipping in August 2019. The current early-bird price is $495.

Papercast announces new E Ink displays with a fast 7.5 fps refresh rate

E-paper passenger information systems developer Papercast announced enhancements to its range of solar powered e-paper displays. The main new feature is a higher refresh rate - which now can be up to 7.5 fps - which Papercast says significantly exceeds the limitations of other e-paper technology in this sector.

Papercast displays use the compayn's own proprietary e-paper driver board and heavyweight processing power, which enables the new fast refresh rate. Other recent enhancements include an ultra-low power battery operation mode when solar power is unavailable, text-to-speech support and more.

Avalue launches its E Ink healthcare solutions suite

Last month we reported that E Ink Holdings has teamed up with Advantech, Avalue Technology, Cypress Technology and iMedtac to develop e-paper based displays for the medical market. Yesterday Avalue launched its Avalue E Ink series healthcare solutions.

The new "smart ward" wireless solutions include the bedside card with its color (Black, white, red) small E Ink display, the E-Note tablet with its 13.3" E Ink display and the Pick-to-light E Ink tag. Avalue also released a 42-inch smart E Ink monitor for hospitals.
